Learning Director - Blake Riley

Charlestown, MA. 02129

June 29, 2022

The CLLC Board of Director's is excited to announce the addition of Blake Riley as the new Director for the Learning Center.

With the addition of Blake and Cam we will officially seperate the two roles with both reporting to the Board of Directors. We are confident the dual alignment will increase the services and impact made under the mission of the CLCC within the Greater Charlestown Community for both Education & Lacrosse.

Blake brings over ten years of experience as an educator to the CLLC. After graduating from the University of Virginia in 2011, Blake taught fourth grade at a private school in Connecticut where she coached youth lacrosse and basketball.

In 2012, Blake joined Teach For America - Massachusetts, where she taught middle school math and science in Fall River. During her tenure with Teach for America Blake also completed her Masters in Education, Curriculum Design at Boston University. While in Fall River, she realized there were no sports teams for girls at her Charter School, so Blake co-founded the first girls cheerleading team and took them to the regional championships two years in a row.

After her time at Teach For America, Blake continued to teach secondary math and science at Brooke Charter School in East Boston. Blake’s 6th grade mathematicians were ranked #1 in the state two years in a row, had a student growth percentile of 95%, and 97% of her scholars scored advanced or proficient on math PARCC!

In 2016, Blake was named math department chair and new teacher development coach at Bentley Academy in Salem, MA.

Blake wrapped up her teaching career here in Boston at the Eliot K-8 Innovation School where she taught 5th and 7th grade math. She has continued to tutor several Boston students for the ISEE, MCAS and their rigorous school curriculum.

Blake comes from a proud lacrosse family. In 2007, she was named Captain of her lacrosse team and Athlete of the Year at Staples High School in Westport, Connecticut. She then continued to play club lacrosse at the University of Virginia.

Her brother, Kip Orban, was the solo-captain at Princeton University and went on to play for the Rochester Rattlers and Charlotte Hounds in the Major League Lacrosse League. Her father coached in the Westport Lacrosse League in her hometown. Blake lives with her husband Dan and son Warren here in Charlestown. Blake looks forward to creating a safe and welcoming learning environment for the students in our community!

Please join us in welcoming Blake to our learning center!

Lacrosse Director- Girl's & Boy's Program: Cam Joyce

Charlestown, MA. 02129

January 24, 2022

The Charlestown Lacrosse and Learning Center Board of Directors is excited to announce Cameron (Cam) Joyce has joined CLLC as our new Lacrosse Director effective immediately. In his part-time, CLLC role Cam will be responsible for both our girl’s and boy’s lacrosse programs.

Cam was a talented player and leader during his NCAA lacrosse career at SNHU. He earned ‘All New England First Team’ honors both his Junior and Senior seasons and ‘All-American’ honors his senior season. Cam capped off his collegiate career with an honor few have achieved - being voted ‘Player of the Year’ by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

After graduating college, Cam started his career in software sales and is currently a Mid-Market Account Executive at Datadog.  But he could not fully leave lacrosse behind. Afterall, Cam was truly born into a lacrosse coaching family. His father Bob passed down his passion for coaching youth sports at a young age where his father led the Braintree, MA lacrosse program for many years. At night and on weekends Cam has coached multiple youth teams in Metro Boston and the South Shore. Cam has also been a key contributor as both an administrator and coach to the Laxachusetts lacrosse club throughout his coaching career. He has had a firsthand look at many of our talented players who compete for local clubs in the summer like 3D, Laxachusetts, Gorillas & HGR.

As Carey Baldwin Vice-Chair shared, “Cam will make an incredible impact on our program and our entire community. His passion for the game and deep gratitude for the opportunities it provided him in his own life drive his commitment to lead and create a positive and inclusive experience for Charlestown youth lacrosse.” Jeff Harris, fellow Vice-Chair added, “Cam’s experience at all levels of the game will ensure that the program continues to grow and thrive. His alignment with the mission and values of the CLLC will strengthen our goal to provide a competitive and inclusive environment for all who participate in Charlestown Youth Lacrosse.”

Please join us in welcoming Cam to our Lacrosse Community.
