Red Cross Babysitting Training - On Wednesday, July 13th from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm the Red Cross will be running an in-person babysitting training at the Learning Center! This program provides youths who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. This training will help participants develop leadership skills, learn how to develop their own babysitting business and learn about basic child care and basic first aid.
The course runs for seven and a half hours total. Scholars will have lunch and several breaks built in throughout the day. Lunch will not be provided. This training is ideal for scholars ages 11 and up. Upon completion of the program, students are given a babysitting certificate that never expires! The cost is $120 per child.
Creative Writing Online/In-Person Hybrid Course, Author Alyson Gerber - Middle grade Author, Alyson Gerber will be running a creative writing program on Tuesday, July 19/Thursday, July 21 and Tuesday, July 26/Thursday, Jul 28 from 3:30pm -5:00pm (90 minutes). This writing course will be offered online but students will have the opportunity to zoom from the Learning Center if they would like an in-person hybrid option! Writers will learn about a variety of different writing styles and will have several opportunities to get individual feedback from Alyson on their writing throughout the course!
This course offering is ideal for scholars in rising 3rd through 8th grade. A computer is required. The cost is $195 per child. Class size is limited so sign up now!
Chess Wizards Chess Full or Half Day Camp - Chess Wizards will be offering a week long in-person summer camp at the Learning Center starting Monday, August 22nd through August 26th. There are three sign-up options:
- Half-Day AM: 9:00am - 12:00pm
- Half-Day PM: 12:00pm - 3:00pm
- Full day: 9:00am - 3:00pm
Chess Wizards has been teaching the game of chess since 2002. Join them this summer for tons of challenging chess lessons, exciting games, and cool prizes! Whether your child is new to chess or has been playing for a while, they will improve their chess skills, meet new friends, and work out their most powerful muscle - their brain! Chess Wizards camps include fun team chess games (like Corner Chess), recess time, snacks, tournaments, and puzzles. All chess materials will be provided by Chess Wizards. All full day campers should pack a lunch. Lunch will not be provided.
This training is ideal for scholars in rising 2nd through 8th grade. Upon completion of the camp, chess players will receive a tshirt, trophy and chess puzzles workkit!
