CLLC is offering our ever popular book clubs via Zoom this summer! We know that Zoom is not always preferred but we feel that offering the book club in this format will allow us to be more flexible with busy summer schedules.
Our first online book club is being offered for rising 3rd and 4th graders. The book club will be reading Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo. Book club will start the week after the 4th of July and continue until the end of August. After you sign up, we will mail you a personal copy of the book to the mailing address on file. We will email out the Zoom link before the beginning of class. Spots are limited, don't wait!
We have a certified and experienced teacher, Sarah Svatek that will facilitate the book club online. Some of your children may know Sarah from after school homework help at the center. Sarah is really excited to be working with us this summer and bringing some excitement and guidance to summer reading!
Chess Wizards Week Long Half Day Chess Camp!

Chess Wizards will be offering a week long half-day summer camp at the Learning Center this summer!
Chess Wizards has been teaching the game of chess since 2002. Join us this summer for tons of challenging chess lessons, exciting games, and cool prizes. You'll improve your chess skills, meet new friends, and work out your most powerful muscle - your brain! Our camps include fun team chess games (like Corner Chess), recess time (of course), snacks, tournaments, and puzzles. Each camper receives a T-shirt, trophy, and puzzle folder. We include all the materials necessary for your child to participate, but full day kids should bring a lunch. Unleash your brain power and spend part of your vacation with Chess Wizards!
This training is ideal for scholars in rising 1st through 8th grade. Upon completion of the camp, chess players will receive a tshirt, trophy and chess puzzles workkit! American Red Cross Babysitter Training Course

This summer, the American Red Cross will be hosting a babysitter training on 8/31 from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm. This program provides youths who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. This training will help participants develop leadership skills, learn how to develop their own babysitting business and learn about basic child care and basic first aid.
The course runs for seven and a half hours total. Scholars will have lunch and several breaks built in throughout the day. Lunch will not be provided. This training is ideal for scholars ages 11 and up. Upon completion of the program, students are given a babysitting certificate that never expires! The cost is $130 per child.
